Did you know Americans discard more than 12 million tons of furniture each year? Our mission at Flying Pig Restoration is to salvage vintage furniture, home goods and decor and reimagine them as unique and beautiful pieces fit for your lifestyle today. In addition to reducing what heads to our landfills, we hope to inspire you to see potential in what you may already have, imagine the possibilities, and succumb to giving it a second chance.
I've been obsessed with old things for as long as I can remember. Furniture, housewares, tools and decorative items. I imagine what the world was like when they were first made and used, the people who touched them, and the stories of their lives.
I'm struck by the beauty of vintage things and the materials from which they were made. I particularly love the rich patina of old wood contrasted with the fresh color from paint. I see the imperfections as adornments that hint at a piece's endurance and storied past.
Flying Pig Restoration is based in Englewood, NJ, but you can visit our cozy Flying Pig Restoration booth on the second floor of the Millbrook Antiques Mall (Franklin Avenue in Millbrook, NY). Once I established that space in the fall of 2022, it gave me an excuse to forage for more of my favorite old things -- vintage vases and ceramics, artwork (particularly botanicals), and other beautiful objects to place in your home to give it character.
